While spring and summer are typically considered the peak season for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes in Missouri and Illinois, these storms can occur any time of year. The Verity Partners Group strongly encourages all of our subcontractors to make monitoring the local weather forecast a part of their daily routine when planning their daily service route.
As with winter weather, in the event of severe thunderstorms or tornadoes, your safety and the safety of your crew is the top priority.
If you are cleaning at a facility, and a tornado warning is issued, please immediately gather your crew, and get to the lowest level of the building; preferably an underground basement or shelter. If an underground shelter is not available, go to an interior room or hallway on the lowest level of the building. Stay away from windows and interior glass.
Please never attempt to "outrun" a severe thunderstorm or tornado. Please remain sheltered at the building until the storm threat has passed.
In the event of severe weather, it is a good idea to tune into local radio or television stations such as: KMOV, Channel 4, KSDK, Channel 5, or Fox-2. Most of these media outlets also have apps for mobile devices.
For additional information, we strongly recommend all of our subcontractors read this article published by The University of Missouri Extension. This article outlines the differences between a tornado watch and a tornado warning, and provides excellent guidance on what to do when severe weather strikes.
When potentially hazardous weather is in the forecast, The Verity Partners Group may operate remotely or reduce office hours. Please call our office at 314-731-0071 to confirm that someone will be on-site before travelling to our office.
If severe weather makes it necessary to cancel or reschedule a pending service, please follow the regular process for reporting a missed service, once it is safe to do so.
